Base, N.C.; killed during a rescue mission during Operation Anaconda on March 4,

Air Force Staff Sgt. John Teal, 29, of Dallas, Texas; assigned
to the 41st Rescue Squadron, Moody Air Force Base, Ga.; killed in
a HH-60G Pave Hawk crash on March 23, 2003, in Afghanistan.
Army Pvt. 2 Ruben Estrella-Soto, 18, of El Paso, Texas; assigned
to 507th Maintenance Company, Fort Bliss, Texas; killed in an
ambush near Nasiriyah, Iraq.

22, of Comfort, Texas; assigned to 507th Maintenance Company, Fort Bliss, Texas;
killed in an ambush near Nasiriyah, Iraq.
Army Sgt. Edward J. Anguiano,
24, of Brownsville, Texas; assigned to 3rd Combat Support Battalion, Fort
Stewart, Ga.; killed in a convoy ambush in Iraq. His remains were recovered
April 24. His status was changed from missing on April 28.
Army Master Sgt. George A. Fernandez,
36, of El Paso, Texas; assigned to the Headquarters, U.S. Army Special
Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed in action in northern Iraq.
Army Chief Warrant Officer Scott Jamar,
32, of Granbury, Texas; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment, Hunter
Army Airfield, Ga.; killed in a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crash in central
Iraq.
Marine Pfc. Chad E. Bales,
20, of Coahoma, Texas; assigned to the 1st Transportation Support Battalion, 1st
Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed in a non-hostile
vehicle accident east of Ash Shahin, Iraq.
Air Force Capt. Eric B. Das,
30, of Amarillo, Texas; assigned to the 333rd Fighter Squadron based at Seymour
Johnson Air Force Base, N.C.; killed when the F-15E he was piloting went down
during a combat mission in Iraq. The incident remains under investigation.
Marine Cpl. Jesus Martin Antonio Medellin,
21, of Fort Worth, Texas; assigned to 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st
Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed in action in central Iraq.
Army Pfc. Anthony S. Miller,
19, of San Antonio; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd
Infantry Division, 2nd Brigade, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed in action in Iraq.
Marine Chief Warrant Officer Andrew Todd Arnold,
30, of Spring, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd
Marine Expeditionary Brigade based in Camp Lejeune, N.C.; killed in a
non-hostile accident when a rocket-propelled grenade launcher being fired for
familiarization malfunctioned near Kut, Iraq. The incident is under
investigation.
Army 1st Sgt. Joe J. Garza, 43, of Robstown, Texas; assigned to 1st
Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment based in Fort Benning, Ga.;
killed when he was struck by a civilian vehicle after falling out
of a Humvee that swerved to avoid a civilian vehicle in
Baghdad.
Air Force A1C Raymond Losano, 24, of Del Rio Texas; 14th Air Support
Operations Squadron, Pope Air Force Base, N.C.; died on April 28,
2003, of wounds received April 25 in Afghanistan.
Army Sgt. 1st Class John E. Taylor, 31, of Wichita Falls Texas; assigned to
the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, N.C.;
died after suffering a heart attack after physical training on
May 17, 2003, in Afghanistan.
Army Spc. Jose Amancio Perez III, 22, of San Diego, Texas; assigned to 6th
Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Sill, Okla.;
killed May 28 when the convoy he was traveling in was ambushed in
Taji, Iraq.
Army Spc. Joseph D. Suell, 24, of Lufkin, Texas; assigned to
Headquarters and Headquarters and Service Battery, 5th Battalion,
3rd Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Sill, Okla.; killed June 16 in
Todjie, Iraq. He died from a non-combat related cause.
Army Pvt. 2 Robert L. Frantz, 19, of San Antonio, Texas; assigned to
Company B, 1st Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored
Division, Ray Barracks, Germany; killed June 17, in Baghdad,
Iraq. He was on guard duty when a local resident threw a grenade
over the wall. Frantz died of his injuries.
Army Cpl. Tomas Sotelo Jr., 20, of Houston, Texas; assigned to
Headquarters Troop, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Polk, La.;
killed by enemy fire June 27 in Baghdad, Iraq. Sotelo was
traveling in a convoy when a rocket-propelled grenade struck his vehicle.
Army Sgt. Melissa Valles, 26, Eagle Pass, Texas; assigned to
Company B, 64th Forward Support Battalion, Fort Carson, Col.;
died of non-combat-related injuries July 9 in Balad, Iraq.
Army Spc. Christian C. Schulz, 20, of Colleyville, Texas; assigned to
the 3rd Troop, 67th Armor Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas; died July
11 as a result of non-combat injuries in Baqubah, Iraq.
Army Lt. Jonathan D. Rozier, 25, Katy, Texas; assigned to Company B,
2nd Battalion, 70th Armor Regiment, of the 1st Armored Division,
deployed from Fort Riley, Kan.; killed while providing security
at a bank when his unit came under attack July 19 in Baghdad.
Army Staff Sgt. Hector R. Perez, 40, of Corpus Christi, Texas; assigned
to Company A, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry, 101st Airborne
Division, Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed when his convoy came under
enemy fire north of Hawd, Iraq, on July 24.
Army Sgt. Daniel K. Methvin, 22, Belton, Texas; assigned to Headquarters and
Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 4th
Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed July 26 as a result
of a grenade being thrown from a window of an Iraqi civilian
hospital he was helping guard in Baqubah, Iraq.
Army Spc. Zeferino E. Colunga, 20, of Bellville, Texas; assigned to 4th
Squadron, 2nd Armored Calvary Regiment, Fort Polk, La.; died Aug.
6 at Homburg University Hospital after he was evacuated from the
28th Combat Support Hospital in Iraq.
Army Sgt. Henry Ybarra III, 32, of Austin, Texas; assigned to D Troop,
6th Squadron, 6th Cavalry, Illesheim, Germany; died Sept. 11 in
Balad, Iraq, when the tire he was changing on a Heavy Expanded
Mobility Tactical Truck exploded.
Army Spc. James C. Wright, 27, of Morgan, Texas; assigned to
Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 4th Battalion, 42nd Field
Artillery Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Sept. 18 during an
ambush by small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades in
Tikrit, Iraq. Two other soldiers from his unit also were
killed.
Army Spc. Richard Arriaga, 20, of Ganado, Texas; assigned to Headquarters and
Headquarters Battery, 4th Battalion, 42nd Field Artillery
Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Sept. 18 during an ambush by
small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades in Tikrit, Iraq.
Two other soldiers from his unit also were killed.
Army Pfc. Analaura Esparza Gutierrez, 21, of Houston, Texas; assigned
to A Company, 4th Forward Support Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas;
killed while riding in a convoy that was hit by an improvised
explosive device and rocket-propelled grenades Oct. 1 in
Tikrit.
Army Spc. Joseph C. Norquist, 26, of San Antonio, Texas; assigned to the 588th
Engineer Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Oct. 9 in Baqubah,
Iraq, when his convoy was attacked with rocket-propelled grenades
and small-arms fire.
Army Pfc. Stephen E. Wyatt, 19, of Kilgore, Texas; assigned to C Battery, 1st
Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Sill, Okla.;
killed while riding in a convoy that was hit by an improvised
explosive device and small-arms fire Oct. 13 in Balad, Iraq.
Army Spc. John P. Johnson, 24, of Houston, Texas; assigned to 2nd Battalion,
6th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany;
died Oct. 22 of non-combat-related injuries in Baghdad.
Army Sgt. Michael Paul Barrera, 26, of Von Ormy, Texas; assigned to the
3rd Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Oct.
28 when his tank was hit with an improvised explosive device in
Baqubah, Iraq.
Army Sgt. Keelan L. Moss, 23, of Houston; assigned to 2nd Battalion,
5th Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Sill, Okla.; killed Nov. 2 in
an attack on a CH-47 Chinook helicopter near Fallujah, Iraq.
Army Staff Sgt. Gary L. Collins, 32, of Hardin, Texas; assigned to 1st
Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, based
in Fort Riley, Kan.; killed Nov. 8 while riding in a Bradley
Fighting Vehicle that hit an improvised explosive device in
Fallujah, Iraq.
Army Sgt. John W. Russell, 26, of Portland, Texas; assigned to the 4th
Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air
Assault), based in Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed Nov. 15 when two
101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) UH-60 Black Hawk
helicopters went down in Mosul, Iraq.
Army Sgt. Ariel Rico, 25, of El Paso, Texas; assigned to 3rd Battalion,
320th Field Artillery Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air
Assault, based in Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed Nov. 28 during an
enemy mortar attack in Mosul, Iraq.
Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 Clarence E. Boone, 50, of Fort Worth,
Texas; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th
Infantry Division, based in Fort Hood, Texas; died Dec. 2 from a
non-combat related injury in Kuwait City, Kuwait.
Army Pfc. Ray J. Hutchinson, 20, of League City, Texas; assigned to the 2nd
Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air
Assault), based at Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed Dec. 7 when an
improvised explosive device hit his vehicle as he was returning
from patrol in Mosul, Iraq.
Army Pfc. Stuart W. Moore, 21, of Livingston, Texas; assigned to 2nd
Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Armored Division,
based in Giessen, Germany; killed Dec. 22 by an improvised
explosive device in Baghdad.
Army Pvt. 2 Rey D. Cuervo, 24, of Laguna Vista, Texas; assigned to 1st
Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, based in Fort Polk, La.;
killed in action while on a mounted patrol when an improvised
explosive device hit his vehicle, on Dec. 28 in Baghdad.
Army Capt. Ernesto M. Blanco, 28, of San Antonio; assigned to 1st
Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne
Division, based in Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed while conducting a
support mission Dec. 28 when an improvised explosive device hit
his vehicle in Qaryat Ash Shababi, Iraq.
