19 January

Marine Cpl. Joseph D. Logan, 22, of Willis, Texas; assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 363, Marine Aircraft Group 24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III MEF, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii; died Jan. 19 in Helmand province, Afghanistan, when the CH-53D helicopter he was riding in crashed.

1 March

Army Pfc. Payton A. Jones 19, of Marble Falls, Texas, assigned to 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; died of wounds caused by small-arms fire March 1 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan. Also killed in the incident was Staff Sgt. Jordan L. Bear.

15 March

Army 2nd Lt. Clovis T. Ray 34, of San Antonio, assigned to 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; died March 15 in Kunar province, Afghanistan, of injuries caused by an improvised explosive device.

11 April

Army Spc. Philip C.S. Schiller, 21, of The Colony, Texas; assigned to 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.; died April 11 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds caused by small-arms fire.

14 April

Army Sgt. Tanner S. Higgins, 23, of Yantis, Texas; assigned to 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Ga.; died Apr. 14 in Logar province, Afghanistan, of wounds caused by enemy small-arms fire.

22 April

Marine Staff Sgt. Joseph H. Fankhauser, 30, of Mason, Texas; assigned to 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; died April 22 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

11 May

Marine Sgt. Wade D. Wilson, 22, of Normangee, Texas; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; died May 11 in Helmand province, Afghanistan, while conducting combat operations.

12 May

Navy Operations Specialist 2nd Class Jorge Luis Velasquez, 35, of Houston; assigned to Commander, Task Force 56 in Bahrain; died of injuries sustained in a fall from a balcony in Manama, Bahrain.

Army Spc. Alex Hernandez III, 21, of Round Rock, Texas; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment, 25th Combat Aviation Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, Wheeler Army Airfield, Hawaii; found dead in his room May 12 in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
