when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee
during combat operations in Bayji, Iraq. Also killed were 1st Lt.
Dennis W. Zilinski, Staff Sgt. Edward Karolasz, and Cpl. Jonathan
F. Blair.

William B. Meeuwsen, 24, of Kingwood, Texas; assigned to
the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat
Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed Nov. 23
when his unit came under direct fire during combat operations in
Baghdad. Also killed was Staff Sgt. Aram J. Bass. The
circumstances of the soldiers' deaths are under investigation as
a potential friendly-fire incident.

Javier A. Villanueva, 25, of Temple, Texas; assigned to
the 2nd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Irwin,
Calif.; died Nov. 24 in Asad, Iraq, of injuries sustained Nov. 23
when an improvised explosive device detonated near his dismounted
patrol during combat operations in Hit, Iraq.

Donald J. Hasse, 28, of Wichita Falls, Texas; assigned to
the 1st Battalion, 13th Armor Regiment, Fort Riley, Kan.; killed
Nov. 29 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his
Humvee during combat operations in Taji, Iraq. Also killed was

Riley, Kan.; killed Dec. 13 when an improvised explosive device

when an improvised explosive device detonated near their position
during a dismounted patrol in Baghdad. Also killed was Spc.
William Lopez-Feliciano.
Army Chief Warrant Officer Richard M. Salter, 44, of Cypress, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 4th Aviation Regiment, Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Dec. 26 when his Apache helicopter collided with another military aircraft in mid-air and then crashed in Baghdad. Also killed was Chief Warrant Officer Isaias E. Santos. The incident is under investigation.
