Walker, 24, of Texas; assigned to the 864th Engineer Combat Battalion (Heavy), 555th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade (Provisional), Fort Lewis, Wash.; killed Aug. 18 when an improvised explosive device detonated underneath her Humvee during ground assault convoy operations in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Also killed was Sgt. Robert G. Davis.

Army Sgt. Shawn A. Graham, 34, of Red Oak, Texas; assigned to the 124th Cavalry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division, Texas Army National Guard, Fort Worth, Texas; died Sept. 25 in Baghdad of injuries sustained earlier that day when the vehicle in which he was riding accidentally rolled over in Balad, Iraq.

Folks Jr., 31, of Amarillo, Texas; assigned to the Army National Guard's 2nd Battalion, 142nd Infantry Regiment, 56th Brigade Combat Team, 36th Infantry Division, Amarillo, Texas; died Oct. 19 in Baghdad of injuries sustained Oct. 18 when multiple improvised explosive devices detonated near his Humvee during convoy operations in Iskandariyah, Iraq.

 

Army Spc. Russell H. Nahvi, 24, of Arlington, Texas; assigned to the 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed Oct. 19 when his Humvee was struck by enemy indirect fire during patrol operations in Balad, Iraq. Army Sgt. Michael T. Robertson, 28, of Houston; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Ga.; died Oct. 25 at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, of injuries sustained Oct. 17 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Bradley Fighting Vehicle in Samarra, Iraq. The incident fatally injured another soldier and was reported Oct. 25.

Miguel Terrazas, 20, of El Paso, Texas; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; attached to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward); killed Nov. 19 by an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in the vicinity of Hadithah, Iraq.

Army Spc. Dominic J. Hinton, 24, of Jacksonville, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed Nov. 19 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during combat operations in Bayji, Iraq. Also killed were 1st Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski, Staff Sgt. Edward Karolasz, and Cpl. Jonathan F. Blair.

 

23 November

Army Sgt. William B. Meeuwsen, 24, of Kingwood, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed Nov. 23 when his unit came under direct fire during combat operations in Baghdad. Also killed was Staff Sgt. Aram J. Bass. The circumstances of the soldiers' deaths are under investigation as a potential friendly-fire incident.

24 November

Army Spc. Javier A. Villanueva, 25, of Temple, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Irwin, Calif.; died Nov. 24 in Asad, Iraq, of injuries sustained Nov. 23 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his dismounted patrol during combat operations in Hit, Iraq.

Army Sgt. Donald J. Hasse, 28, of Wichita Falls, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 13th Armor Regiment, Fort Riley, Kan.; killed Nov. 29 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during combat operations in Taji, Iraq. Also killed was Sgt. Jerry W. Mills Jr.

Marine Staff Sgt. William D. Richardson, 30, of Houston; assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron-372, Marine Wing Support Group-37, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; attached to 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward); died Nov. 30 of wounds sustained from a non-hostile vehicle accident near Taqaddum, Iraq.

Martinez, 20, of Splendora, Texas; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; attached to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward); killed Dec. 1 by an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Fallujah, Iraq. Also killed were Staff Sgt. Daniel J. Clay, Lance Cpl. John M. Holmason, Lance Cpl. David A. Huhn, Lance Cpl. Adam W. Kaiser, Cpl. Anthony T. McElveen, Lance Cpl. Scott T. Modeen, Lance Cpl. Andrew G. Patten, Sgt. Andy A. Stevens, and Lance Cpl. Craig N. Watson.

Army Sgt. Michael C. Taylor, 23, of Hockley, Texas; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 13th Field Artillery, 214th Field Artillery Brigade, III Corps Artillery, Fort Sill, Okla.; killed Dec. 7 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck while his unit was conducting combat operations in Balad, Iraq.

 

13 December

Army Spc. James C. Kesinger, 32, of Pharr, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 70th Armor, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, Fort Riley, Kan.; killed Dec. 13 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee while conducting combat operations in Taji, Iraq. Also killed were Staff Sgt. Michael S. Zyla, Sgt. Brian C. Karim and Spc. Peter J. Navarro.

 

18 December

Marine Lance Cpl. Samuel Tapia, 20, of San Benito, Texas; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; attached to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward); killed Dec. 18 by small-arms fire while conducting combat operations in Ramadi, Iraq.

Army Staff Sgt. Johnnie V. Mason, 32, of Rio Vista, Texas; assigned to the 717th Ordnance Company, 184th Ordnance Battalion, 52nd Ordnance Group (Explosive Ordnance Detachment), Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed Dec. 19, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee in Mahmudiyah, Iraq.

 

22 December

Army 1st Lt. Benjamin T. Britt, 24, of Wheeler, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed Dec. 22 when an improvised explosive device detonated near their position during a dismounted patrol in Baghdad. Also killed was Spc. William Lopez-Feliciano.

 

26 December

Army Chief Warrant Officer Richard M. Salter, 44, of Cypress, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 4th Aviation Regiment, Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Dec. 26 when his Apache helicopter collided with another military aircraft in mid-air and then crashed in Baghdad. Also killed was Chief Warrant Officer Isaias E. Santos. The incident is under investigation.
