Jeffries, 37, of Roscoe, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.; died Jan. 28 in Mosul, Iraq, of wounds sustained when his unit encountered an improvised explosive device during convoy operations. Also killed were Sgt. James E. Craig, Spc. Evan A. Marshall, Pfc. Brandon A. Meyer and Pvt. Joshua A.R. Young.

Army Capt. Michael A. Norman, 36, of Killeen, Texas; assigned to the Military Transition Team, 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan.; died Jan. 31 in Baghdad of wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.

Army Cpl. Christopher J. West, 26, of Arlington, Texas; assigned to the 1st Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; died Feb. 4 in Balad, Iraq, of wounds sustained on Feb. 3 in Muqdadiyah, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated during combat operations.

Army Sgt. Conrad Alvarez, 22, of Big Spring, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.; died Feb. 20 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device on Feb. 19. Also killed were Cpl. Albert Bitton and Spc. Micheal B. Matlock Jr.

Army Spc. Orlando A. Perez, 23, of Houston; assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany; died Feb. 24 in Baghdad, Iraq, from wounds sustained from small-arms fire during dismounted operations.

 

10 March

Army Cpl. Scott A. McIntosh, 26, of Houston; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; died March 10 in Baghdad of wounds sustained when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device. Also killed were Staff Sgt. Ernesto G. Cimarrusti, Staff Sgt. David D. Julian, Cpl. Robert T. McDavid and Sgt. 1st. Class Shawn M. Suzch.

 

Army Spc. Donald A. Burkett, 24, of Comanche, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas; died March 10 in Balad Ruz, Iraq, of wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. Also killed were Sgt. Phillip R. Anderson and Capt. Torre R. Mallard.

Army Spc. Dustin C. Jackson, 21, of Arlington, Texas; assigned to the 350th Adjutant General Company, Grand Prairie, Texas; died March 12 in Tallil, Iraq, of wounds sustained when his vehicle was hit by indirect fire. Also killed were Staff Sgt. Juantrea T. Bradley and Pfc. Tenzin L. Samten.

Army Cpl. William D. O'Brien, 19, of Rice, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan.; died March 15 in Baghdad from wounds sustained when he was attacked by small arms fire during combat operations.

Army Sgt. Gregory D. Unruh, 28, of Dickinson, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas; died March 19 in Mandali, Iraq, of injuries sustained in a vehicle accident.

Army Cpl. Jose A. Rubio Hernandez, 24, of Mission, Texas; assigned to the 4th Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; died March 24 in Baghdad from wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. Also killed were Staff Sgt. Christopher M. Hake, Pfc. Andrew J. Habsieger and Pfc. George Delgado.

Army Cpl. Steven I. Candelo, 20, of Houston; assigned to the 1st Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany; died March 26 in Baghdad when his vehicle was struck by a rocket-propelled grenade.

Army Cpl. Joshua A. Molina, 20, of Houston; assigned to the 1st Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany; died March 27 in Baghdad of wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.

Army Spc. Matthew T. Morris, 23, of Cedar Park, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas; died April 6 in Balad, Iraq, when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. Also killed was Capt. Ulises Burgos-Cruz.

Army Staff Sgt. Jason L. Brown, 29, of Magnolia, Texas; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, Fort Campbell, Ky.; died April 17 in Sama Village, Iraq, of wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked using small-arms fire and grenades.

Navy Airman Adrian M. Campos, 22, of El Paso, Texas; assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Support Squadron 22, which was attached to the USNS Arctic; he was found dead in Dubai on April 21 due to a non-combat-related incident.

 

23 April

Army 1st Lt. Timothy W. Cunningham, 26, of College Station, Texas; assigned to the 1st Squadron, 32nd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.; died April 23 in Balad, Iraq, of injuries sustained in a vehicle incident.

Army Sgt. Mark A. Stone, 22, of Buchanan Dam, Texas; assigned to the 94th Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Polk, La.; died April 28 in Baghdad of wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked his forward operating base with indirect fire. Also killed were Pfc. Adam L. Marion and Sgt. Marcus C. Mathes.

 

Army Cpl. David P. McCormick, 26, of Fresno, Texas; assigned to the 1st Squadron, 75th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.; died April 28 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds sustained when his forward operating base came under rocket attack.

Army Staff Sgt. Clay A. Craig, 22, of Mesquite, Texas; assigned to the 1st Squadron, 75th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky; died April 29 in Baghdad from wounds sustained when he received small-arms fire during combat operations.

Army Sgt. 1st Class Lawrence D. Ezell, 30, of Portland, Texas; assigned to the 71st Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group, Fort Carson, Colo.; died April 30 in Baghdad of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit during combat operations.

Army Spc. Quincy J. Green, 26, of El Paso, Texas; assigned to 601st Aviation Support Battalion, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan.; died June 2 in Tikrit, Iraq, of injuries sustained in a non-combat-related incident.

Army Spc. Jonathan D. A. Emard, 20, of Mesquite, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.; died June 4 in Tikrit, Iraq, of wounds sustained in Sharqat, Iraq, when his unit was attacked by enemy forces using small-arms fire and hand grenades. Also killed were Sgt. Shane P. Duffy and Sgt. Cody R. Legg.

Army Spc. Thomas F. Duncan III, 21, of Rowlett, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Lewis, Wash.; died June 9 in Sinjar, Iraq, of wounds sustained during combat operations.

Marine Lance Cpl. Javier Perales Jr., 19, of San Elizario, Texas; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; died June 11 from a non-hostile incident in Balad, Iraq.

Marine Sgt. Matthew E. Mendoza, 24, of San Antonio, Texas; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; died June 20 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

Marine Staff Sgt. Edgar A. Heredia, 28, of Houston; assigned to 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command; died June 26 while supporting combat operations in Farah province, Afghanistan.

Army Sgt. Jaime Gonzalez Jr., 40, of Austin, Texas; assigned to the 436th Chemical Company, Texas Army National Guard, Laredo, Texas; died Aug. 3 in Kabul, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when his vehicle encountered a mine.

Army Pfc. John A. Mattox, 23, of Daingerfield, Texas; assigned to the 6th Squadron, 4th Cavalry, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; died Aug. 10 at Forward Operating Base Bostick, Afghanistan, from injuries sustained in a non-combat related incident.

Army Sgt. Wesley R. Durbin, 26, of Hurst, Texas; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; died Sept. 14 in Tunnis, Iraq, of wounds sustained in a non-hostile incident. Also killed was Staff Sgt. Darris J. Dawson.

Farley, 30, of Grand Prairie, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; died Sept. 18 at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained Sept. 17 when his mounted patrol was attacked by enemy forces using small arms and rocket-propelled grenades in Able Monti, Afghanistan.

Air Force Maj. Rodolfo I. Rodriguez, 34, of El Paso, Texas; assigned to the 86th Construction & Training Squadron, Ramstein Air Base, Germany; died Sept. 20 in the bombing of the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad, Pakistan.  

 

11 October

Army Cpl. Reuben M. Fernandez III, 22, of Abilene, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; died on Oct. 11 of wounds sustained when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in Majar Al Kabir, Iraq.

 

12 October

Army Spc. Geoffrey G. Johnson, 28, of Lubbock, Texas; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Division Special Troops Battalion, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; died Oct. 12 of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident in Baghdad.

 

14 October

Army Spc. Cory J. Bertrand, 18, of Center, Texas, assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; died Oct. 14 of wounds suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device in Qazi Bandeh, Afghanistan. Also killed were Spc. Stephen R. Fortunato and Sgt. Preston R. Medley.

 

16 October

Army Pfc. Heath K. Pickard, 21, of Palestine, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska; died Oct. 16 in Balad, Iraq, of wounds sustained when he received indirect fire in Baqubah, Iraq.

 

21 November

Army Sgt 1st Class Miguel A. Wilson, 36, of Bonham, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas; died Nov. 21 in Abu Sayf, Iraq, of injuries sustained during a rescue attempt of another soldier while their unit was conducting a dismounted reconnaissance mission.

 

4 December

Army Sgt. John J. Savage, 26, of Weatherford, Texas; assigned to the 103rd Engineer Company, 94th Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; died from wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device Dec. 4 in Mosul, Iraq. Also killed was Staff Sgt. Solomon T. Sam.
