 Army Pvt. Sean P. McCune, 20, of Euless, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; died Jan. 11 in Samarra, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident.

 

12 February

 Army Spc. Peter J. Courcy, 22, of Frisco, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.; died Feb. 10 in Salerno, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. Also killed was Army Pfc. Jason R. Watson.


16 February

 Army Sgt. 1st Class Raymond J. Munden, 35, of Mesquite, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.; died Feb. 16 at Forward Operating Base Tillman in Paktika Province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his unit using indirect fire.


14 March

 Marine Staff Sgt. Archie A. Taylor, 37, of Tomball, Texas.; assigned to the 2nd Intelligence Battalion, II MEF Headquarters Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; died March 14 in a non-hostile incident in Kabul province, Afghanistan.

 Army Maj. Matthew P. Houseal, 54, of Amarillo, Texas; assigned to the 55th Medical Company, based in Indianapolis; died May 11 from injuries sustained in a shooting by a U.S. soldier at Camp Liberty, Iraq. Also killed were Army Spc. Jacob D. Barton, Army Sgt. Christian E. Bueno-Galdos, Navy Cmdr. Charles K. Springle and Army Pfc. Michael E. Yates Jr.

 

26 May

 Air Force Lt. Col. Mark E. Stratton II, 39, of Houston; assigned to the Joint Staff, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.; died May 26 near Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device. Also killed was Senior Airman Ashton L. M. Goodman.

 Marine Lance Cpl. Matthew G. Reza, 27, of Austin, Texas; assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 31, Marine Aircraft Group 31, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, S.C.; was killed May 31 as a result of a non-hostile incident in Khandahar province, Afghanistan.

 Army Pfc. Matthew D. Ogden, 33, of Corpus Christi, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) Fort Drum, N.Y.; died June 1 in Nerkh, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. Also killed were Staff Sgt. Jeffrey A. Hall and Pfc. Matthew W. Wilson.

 Army Spc. Jarrett P. Griemel, 20, of La Porte, Texas; assigned to the 425th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska; died June 3 at Forward Operating Base Gardez, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered from a noncombat-related incident.

 Army Sgt. Joshua W. Soto, 25, of San Angelo, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 77th Armor Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas; died June 16 in Iraq of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.

 Army Spc. Joshua L. Hazlewood, 22, of Manvel, Texas; assigned to the 614th Automated Cargo Documentation Detachment; died June 25 in Arifjan, Kuwait, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident.

 

26 June

 Army Pfc. Peter K. Cross, 20, of Saginaw, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.; died June 26 at Combat Outpost Carwile, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained during a vehicle roll-over.


8 July

 Navy Aviation Ordnanceman Airman Darren Ethan Tate, 21, of Canyon, Texas; assigned to the USS Iwo Jima, and deployed as an Individual Augmentee to Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan; died of pneumonia July 8 at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan.

Bowen, 29, of San Antonio; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska; died Aug. 18 in Paktika Province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. Also killed was Pfc. Morris L. Walker.


3 September

 Marine Lance Cpl. Christopher S. Baltazar Jr., 19, of San Antonio; was assigned to 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; died Sept. 3 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Also killed was Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Benjamin P. Castiglione.

 Army 2nd Lt. Darryn D. Andrews, 34, of Dallas; was assigned to 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska; was killed Sept. 4 in Paktika province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device and a rocket-propelled grenade.

 Army Sgt. David A. Davis, 28, of Dalhart, Texas; assigned to the 32nd Transportation Company, 68th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 43rd Sustainment Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.; died Sept. 19 at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked Bagram Airfield using indirect fire.


20 September

 Air Force Senior Airman Matthew R. Courtois, 22, of Lucas, Texas; assigned to the 366th Security Forces Squadron, Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho; died Sept. 20 as a result of a nonhostile incident on Abdullah Al Mubarak Airbase, Kuwait.


16 October

 Army Staff Sgt. Chris N. Staats, 32, of Fredericksburg, Texas; assigned to the 143rd Infantry Detachment, Austin, Texas; died Oct. 16 in Wardak province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an IED. Also killed was Spc. Anthony G. Green.


19 October

 Army Staff Sgt. Bradley Espinoza, 26, of Mission, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas, died Oct. 19 in Qwest, Iraq, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device.

26 October

 Army Staff Sgt. Shawn H. McNabb, 24, of Terrell, Texas; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 160th Special Operations Regiment (Airborne), Hunter Army Airfield, Ga. died Oct. 26 of wounds suffered when the MH-47 helicopter he was aboard crashed in Darreh-ye Bum, Afghanistan. Also killed were Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 Michael P. Montgomery, Sgt. 1st Class David E. Metzger, Staff Sgt. Keith R. Bishop, Chief Warrant Officer Niall Lyons, Sgt. Josue E. Hernandez Chavez and Sgt. Nickolas A. Mueller.

Fernando Delarosa, 24, of Alamo, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.; died Oct. 27 in Arghandab Valley, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an IED.
