Much Ado About.......
Just when I thought nothing could surprise me, it
happened again, and with one of the stupidest and most
irresponsible stunts I've ever seen in politics. I am not a big
fan of Rush Limbaugh, or any other talk show host, and don't
really listen to or watch much of anything from any of the media
outlets when it comes to politics. They are too biased and
hypocritical for my tastes, talk radio on one side and the MSM on
the other. Nor do I trust most paper outlets either, journalism
in the true sense of the word died a long time ago. I do have a
few trusted bloggers I read, but I don't rely on them for factual
evidence on most things, even though I find them extremely
insightful on many issues. Rather, I do my own research via
trusted online sites from around the world, and by talking with
people from around the world who are actually on the scene of
many current events.
I spend a great deal of time reading bills that
come before Congress, and the Texas legislature, along with an
occasional foray into the legislative sites of a few other
states. I have studied the Qur'an, the Bible (several versions),
and the Torah, as well as many other forms of religious text. And
I've read more than my share of philosophies from one extreme to
the other, including the works of Marx, Hitler, Plato, and
Aristotle. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to brag about my
lifetime of studies, I am only saying this as a preface to my
next statement, and to explain why I made the first statement in
this blog. I make my decisions about what I believe, and what I
write about, based on my personal observances and my own
research. I am prompted, from time to time, to address certain
occurrences that are widely discussed, but rarely when they are
as trivial as this current issue.
I will make an exception on this one only because
of the incredible stupidity involved. Three weeks ago, CPAC held
their annual conference at the Wardman Park Marriot in
Washington, DC. There were a host of speakers, but the closing
remarks were given to Rush Limbaugh, who, from his remarks, felt
it was a great honor. But it was from his remarks that this furor
started, even if those remarks were taken out of context and
altered to produce only a negative view. Personally, I would have
paid no more attention to it than a bug in the wind, but we have
all been assaulted with a created fiasco used for the spread of
more political bigotry than I had though possible after listening
to certain groups blast Bush for eight years. And Rush isn't even
a politician!!
I listened to name calling from the left on an
unbelievable scale, our 43rd president being called Hitler,
chimp, monkey, buffoon, etc., etc. but now the shoe is on the
other foot, and any comment about the current president are
considered bigoted, racist, etc., and even more insults fly as
they go off in more ways than a Chinese pinwheel. I don't quite
understand the double standard of it all; it is so illogical as
to befuddle a panel of shrinks. But it still happens, and on a
daily basis, even at the national level. So what started this
bananafest? (That's all this is, a fight between monkeys armed
with bananas.) To properly examine the supposed comment, we need
to look at the context, and what was really said.
"This notion that I want the President to fail,
folks, this shows you a sign of the problem we've got. That's
nothing more than common sense and to not be able to say it, why
in the world do I want what we just described, rampant government
growth indebtedness, wealth that's not even being created yet
that is being spent, what is in this? What possibly is in this
that anybody of us wants to succeed? Did the Democrats want the
war on Iraq to fail!"
"They certainly did. They not only wanted the war
in Iraq to fail, they proclaimed it a failure. There's Dingy
Harry Reid waiving a white flag: "This war is lost. This war is"
-- They called General Petraeus a liar before he even testified.
Mrs. Clinton said she had to, willingly suspend disbelief in
order to listen to Petraeus. We're in the process of winning the
war. The last thing they wanted was to win. They hoped George
Bush failed. So what is so strange about being honest to say that
I want Barack Obama to fail if his mission is to restructure and
reform this country so that capitalism and individual liberty are
not its foundation? Why would I want that to succeed?"
To use only six words, "I want Barack Obama to
fail", out of the over ten thousand five hundred words Limbaugh
spoke that night, many of which were in a positive nature,
completely misses the point. So why use just those words?
Sensationalism, nothing more, nothing less. Does anyone really
believe that Rush Limbaugh, who makes his money from an open
society, want to see this nation fail any more than the rest of
us do? Is wanting to preserve capitalism and individual liberty a
bad thing? And to see so many Republican politicians jump on this
along with the entire DNC and the White House is among the most
ridiculous things I've ever witnessed in my lifetime. What is it
they want? Capitalism to die? Individual liberties to be
surrendered?
Now, in the most ludicrous crowning achievement of
all, the DNC held a contest to place a slogan on a billboard in
Limbaugh's area to show their disdain for the comment. And the
winner is, "Americans didn't vote for a 'Rush' to failure". Talk
about LAME. Limbaugh is a radio talk show host, not a member of
the RNC, or a politician, he is only a celebrity, and then only
among conservatives. So why go after him when there are so many
other real problems across this land? Especially after eight
years of wanting to see Bush fail? That old double standard at
work, to be sure. And the MSM is feeding off it, fueling the fire
by not clarifying the context of the comment, or publicizing the
entire comment, all to widen the gap between the left and the
right to further their own agendas.
It was a way to create more smoke and mirrors,
distraction, diversion, misdirection, redirection; anything to
keep Americans from finding out what is really gong on inside the
beltway. And to mask how dysfunctional the current administration
is in dealing with the ever increasing mess politicians have made
of our country, and are continuing to make, by passing more and
more extremely costly bills that will do nothing to solve our
current economic woes, not to mention the lack of understanding
of protocol and diplomacy required to negotiate the dangerous
world we exist in today. There are several projections that our
National Debt will exceed fourteen trillion dollars before
Obama's first term ends. More and more economists are starting to
toss out red flags about what Congress and this administration
are doing, saying that it is only adding to the economic downturn
in our society and creating a burden not even our great
grandchildren will be able to pay off.
Is this the modern DNC version of beautifying
America??!! I'd think people could find a better use for their
money. But that would take some common sense, something severely
lacking in the world today.

And, of course, bloggers have already photo
shopped an appropriate response!!

WAKE UP AMERICA!!
WE'RE BEING SOLD DOWN THE RIVER!!
And many of us are being manipulated beyond
belief, without even knowing it.
