SOMETIMES YOU JUST HAVE TO LAUGH TO KEEP FROM SCREAMING!!

It is no longer a laughing matter when the House of Representatives can pass such legislation as HR 2454 under the promise of "Jobs, jobs, jobs.", when the reality is that it is no more than the imposition of taxes under the guise of "fees". No one benefits from these fees but government, and it is guaranteed to increase our power utility bills by 25% for starters, and ultimately over 150% over the next 10 years while only reducing our "carbon footprint" by 1% over the next 20 years. (The Senate version is under debate and promises to be better, but is still an unnecessary waste of money and time.)

Somewhere along the way, science has been transformed into something no one of my generation recognizes. We aren't facing "Global Warming", or "Climate Change", what we are facing is weather. The truth of reducing "pollutants" is that they have been present since long before the automobile, from wood fires and other forms of burning over the past 30 centuries. Removing them completely will only result in not blocking the suns rays and allowing the sun to heat the earth even more. Here is a link to a Fox and Friends segment showing the lengths this Congress and Administration will go to hide the truth about their plans.

Then we hear about how Carbon Dioxide is so devastating. Have they never heard of photosynthesis? Do they not know that all plant life requires Carbon Dioxide to survive, and that the byproduct released as waste by these plants is Oxygen? Shouldn't we be hearing more about Nitrogen Oxide, Dioxide and Trioxide? They are far more damaging to our environment than Methane or Carbon Dioxide. Nitrogen Dioxide, which is created by lightning and plant decay in nature and by the industrial complex of the world, nuclear explosions, automobiles and other internal combustion engines, thermal power stations and, to a lesser extent, pulp mills, as well as many other forms of industry. (All forms of Nitrogen Oxides are created when there is more Oxygen available than Nitrogen and they mix, usually in extreme heat situations, like internal combustion.) The following map shows where Nitrogen Dioxide is being created in the world, primarily from China. But it doesn't show how that N2O is carried around the globe aloft, and how the releases of it from China are damaging our atmosphere. The Kyoto Protocol, ratified by 54 nations in 1997, classifies N2O as a greenhouse gas, and calls for substantial worldwide reductions in its emissions.

The four primary sources of NOx from industry are thermal, fuel, prompt and feed. Thermal occurs most often when burning natural gas and other oxygen injected combustion forms. However, great strides have been made in this country to reduce thermal as a source, as all three primary reactions of thermal creation are reversible. But that just isn't the case around the globe.

Fuel, as a source, comes from burning certain coals and oil and creates two forms, volatile and char. Volatile can be reduced to a Nitrogen gas in a reducing atmosphere, while char is created much more slowly than volatile. Only around 20% of the char nitrogen is ultimately emitted as NOx, since much of the NOx that forms during this process is reduced to nitrogen by the char, which is nearly pure carbon, a common element which is the chemical basis of all known life and virtually harmless. The use of water injection technology, exhaust gas recirculation and catalytic converters in motor vehicle engines have significantly reduced emissions in this country, but, again, not so around the world.

Prompt is attributed to the reaction of atmospheric nitrogen, and unless we stop lightning and plants from decaying, there just isn't much we can do about it. Feed, as the last source, is associated with the combustion of nitrogen present in the feed material of cement rotary kilns, at between 300° and 800°C, where it is also a minor contributor.

So the real question is, why aren't we seeing legislation regarding NOx instead of Carbon Dioxide? And even if we were, how is our yielding to the special interests and environmentalists with idiotic legislation that does nothing more than cost us money? Why would our industries, who are already in trouble and facing new taxation, remain here under such stringent standards when they will be welcomed in other countries with no qualms about whether they contribute to the world's pollution problems? Even a quick look at the map above will certainly show us why Congress is trying to shove it down our throats. Southern California, the industrial areas near the Great Lakes and the Northeast portion of our nation produce the bulk of the problem here. Now ask yourself where the biggest centers of population are, and the most industries. Why should the other 40 states suffer for the problems created by 10 states? Why aren't we trying to get Europe, China, India (the fastest growing polluters are India and China), and the other areas of the world who contribute to the problem to do something?

I'm not saying we shouldn't do anything, but what we've been doing is far more than anyone else, and all we need to be doing is pledging to continue developing and implementing the technologies to produce cleaner air, but under reasonable standards, not mandates. There is absolutely no need to further burden an already burdened American taxpayer in a declining and unstable economy. And producing long term jobs here at home instead of short term ones, while the long term jobs go to foreign countries.

WAKE UP, AMERICA!!

WE'RE BEING SOLD DOWN THE RIVER!!!

And don't even get me started on "Health Care"!!!
