I have a secret plan to destroy
America. If you believe, as many do, that America is too smug,
too white bread, too self-satisfied, too rich, let's destroy
America. It is not that hard to do. History shows that
nations are more fragile than their citizens think. No nation in
history has survived the ravages of time. Arnold
Toynbee[1]observed that all great civilizations rise and they all
fall, and that "an autopsy of history would show that all great
nations commit suicide." Here is my plan:
1. We must first make America a
bilingual-bicultural country. History shows, in my opinion, that
no nation can survive the tension, conflict and antagonism of two
competing languages and cultures. It is a blessing for an
individual to be bilingual; it is a curse for a society to be
bilingual. One scholar, Seymour Martin Lipset[2], put it this way:
"The histories of bilingual and bicultural societies that do not
assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension and tragedy. Canada,
Belgium, Malaysia, Lebanon - all face crises of national
existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not
independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. Nigeria
suppressed an ethnic rebellion. France faces difficulties with
its Basques, Bretons and Corsicans."
2. I would then invent "multiculturalism" and
encourage immigrants to maintain their own culture. I would make
it an article of belief that all cultures are equal: that there
are no cultural differences that are important. I would declare
it an article of faith that the black and Hispanic dropout rate
is only due to prejudice and discrimination by the majority.
Every other explanation is out-of-bounds.
3. We can make the United States
a "Hispanic Quebec" without much effort. The key is to celebrate
diversity rather than unity. As Benjamin Schwarz said in the
Atlantic Monthly[3](From the article Domestic Insecurities, May,
1995; The Diversity Myth; Volume 275, No. 5; pages 57-67.)
recently, "The apparent success of our own multiethnic and
multicultural experiment might have been achieved, not by
tolerance, but by hegemony. Without the dominance that once
dictated ethnocentrically, and what it meant to be an American,
we are left with only tolerance and pluralism to hold us
together." I would encourage all immigrants to keep their own
language and culture. I would replace the melting pot metaphor
with a salad bowl metaphor. It is important to insure that we
have various cultural sub-groups living in America reinforcing
their differences, rather than Americans emphasizing their
similarities.
4. Having done all this, I would make our
fastest-growing demographic group the least educated - I would
add a second underclass, unassimilated, undereducated and
antagonistic to our population. I would have this second
underclass have a 50 percent dropout rate from school.
5. I would then get the big foundations and big
business to give these efforts lots of money. I would invest in
ethnic identity, and I would establish the cult of victimology. I
would get all minorities to think their lack of success was all
the fault of the majority. I would start a grievance industry
blaming all minority failure on the majority population.
6. I would establish dual citizenship and promote
divided loyalties. I would "celebrate diversity." "Diversity" is
a wonderfully seductive word. It stresses differences rather than
commonalities. Diverse people worldwide are mostly engaged in
hating each other - that is, when they are not killing each
other. A "diverse", peaceful or stable society is against most
historical precedent. People undervalue the unity it takes to
keep a nation together, and we can take advantage of this
myopia.
Look at the ancient Greeks.
Dorf's "World History"[4]tells us: "The
Greeks believed that they belonged to the same race; they
possessed a common language and literature; and they worshiped
the same gods. All Greece took part in the Olympic Games in honor
of Zeus, and all Greeks venerated the shrine of Apollo at Delphi.
A common enemy, Persia, threatened their liberty. Yet, all of
these bonds together were not strong enough to overcome two
factors ... (local patriotism and geographical conditions that
nurtured political divisions ...)" If we can put the emphasis on
the "pluribus," instead of the "unum," we can balkanize America
as surely as Kosovo.
7. Then I would place all these subjects
off-limits - make it taboo to talk about. I would find a word
similar to "heretic" in the 16th century - that stopped
discussion and paralyzed thinking. Words like "racist",
"xenophobe" halt argument and conversation. Having made America a
bilingual-bicultural country, having established
multiculturalism, having the large foundations fund the doctrine
of "victimology," I would next make it impossible to enforce our
immigration laws. I would develop a mantra - "because immigration
has been good for America, it must always be good." I would make
every individual immigrant sympatric and ignore the cumulative
impact.
8. Lastly, I would censor Victor
Davis Hanson's book "Mexifornia"[5]- this book is
dangerous; it exposes my plan to destroy America. So please,
please - if you feel that America deserves to be destroyed -
please, please - don't buy this book! This guy is on to my
plan.
"The smart way to keep people
passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of
acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that
spectrum." - Noam Chomsky[6], American linguist and
U.S. media and foreign policy critic.
Both Governor Lamm and the
writer of the e-mail misidentify the author of the book
"Mexifornia", whose correct name is Victor Davis Hanson. Richard
D. Lamm[7]was a Democrat who served as governor of Colorado for
twelve years from 1975 to 1987. He made this speech in
Washington, DC, in early 2004. The authenticity of this speech
has been verified.
As to parts one, two and three, in analyzing the
current conditions in our great country, I think we can all agree
that we are beyond being a bilingual and bicultural country; we
are now multi-lingual and multi-cultural. And we have a great
deal of unrest as a result. Assimilation has become an anomaly,
cursed by the left who believe in diversity rather than
commonality. Lamm appears to be correct in his assumption that we
are no longer a "melting pot", and have indeed become a "salad
bowl", or as some have referred to us, "a land of fruits and
nuts". Even Theodore Roosevelt, who was an early progressive,
recognized the need to remain monolingual and monocultural in
order to sustain our way of government, and our very existence as
a nation. "There can be no fifty-fifty
Americanism in this country. There is room here for only 100%
Americanism, only for those who are Americans and nothing else."
"We can have no '50-50' allegiance in this country. Either a man
is an American and nothing else, or he is not an American at
all." "Every immigrant who comes here should be required
within five years to learn English or leave the country."
This now takes us to parts four and five. It is
definitely that failure to assimilate and become an "American" or
"US citizen" that has created the disparity of educational levels
among the people who live in this country, and fostered bias and
raised racism back to the surface instead of killing it once and
for all. And all around us are signs of that truth, such as the
rebirth of "repatriation" claims, the blaming of majorities for
the travails of minorities, and shouts of "victimization" from
every corner, all supported by people like Bill Gates and others
in the name of charity and sympathy.
Please don't misunderstand me here, I believe in
charity, especially whan one can give it easily, but I don't
believe in charity in the name of aiding one certain element or
group of our society over another. Poor is poor, no matter the
color of one's skin or the place of his birth. What antagonizes
me most of all about most charities that are initiated in this
country is they aid those of other nations, when there are plenty
of deserving people right here at home. Look at any of the
Western Indian Reservations, just as an example. Seven of the ten
poorest counties in this nation are comprised of Indian
Reservations., but where is the outrage from the left, or the
media? Did you know that European charities donate more to our
Native American populations than any of our own home-based
charities? Our own government is responsible for their
maintenance under treaty, but still they are the poorest of the
poor in this nation. Is that how the rest of us can expect to be
treated if our government is allowed to take an even bigger
responsibility for our lives and welfare as Obama and the current
Congress plan?
Part six, and the expansion of "diversity", which
is now considered a good thing by many on both right and left,
has taken us over. From "political correctness" to acceptance of
deviant acts to celebrating our differences rather than erasing
them, we have degenerated into a society of whimpering,
self-indulgent, cowards afraid to speak the truth for fear of
hurting someone's feelings. Examples of diversity occur in every
corner of the world, and are the causes of war, insurrection,
civil unrest, claims of abuse where there is none, and actual
abuses going unspoken because of "diversity" and "tolerance" and
"victimization", yet we continue to not only allow it to happen,
but encourage it. There are dozens of examples of what diversity
has done to destroy civilizations and cultures in modern days as
well as ancient times. And in this country, there is no "unum"
left, only "pluribus", when more than ever before we need true E
pluribus unum.
In discussing these very things, I've been called
a "racist", "bigot", a "loudmouthed, Neanderthal, sadistic
fascist", and many other names to profane and obscene to post
where a child might see them. But since I know the desire to
silence me, I fight back, and counter their disparaging remarks
with truth. There will be no silencing me, no matter how hard
they try.
Part seven is in full motion, as the MSM and left
attempt to "make every individual immigrant sympatric and ignore
the cumulative impact." The "cumulative impact" is costing us
billions in tax dollars every year, helping to push the National
Debt and National Deficit through the roof by importing more
immigrants via the "Refugee Resettlement Act" and providing both
they and illegal immigrants free medical, educations, food and
housing, and all while Americans here by birth and naturalization
suffer from unemployment, etc. Our tax dollars are being sent
overseas to aid both friend and enemy as well as spent here to
support those who are not here legally or have been imported, and
all while our costs continue to increase, and our businesses fail
or become nationalized.
As to part eight, I recommend the book,
"Mexifornia", as a tool to educate yourself to the possibility of
the destruction of this nation via social programs that aid
illegals more than they aid citizens. And to those on the left,
please educate yourselves to the possibility that we on the right
might just be right about some of the things we are concerned
about.
We are not all just Republicans or Democrats,
Christians or Jews, Muslims or agnostics, we are Americans, and
we need to stand and work together to save this nation before
it's too late. We certainly don't need to be the next great
nation in history that fails simply because it was easier to
ignore and defeat the realities of socialism, "tolerance",
"multiculturalism", "diversity", "victimology", and "illegal
immigration", and what they are doing to this country. And we
certainly don't need to change our laws to fit any late comers to
this land. It is far better to recognize our differences, but
only for the purpose of eliminating them rather than intensifying
them, and to encourage everyone in this nation to be an
"American", not a hyphenated version of that once proud term. We
need to learn to encourage assimilation, not separation, build
upon our strengths and determination instead apologizing and
yielding as a way to regain the image we once held as the
greatest nation on earth.
Remember that for nearly three hundred years
people have come to this land for what we offer, and over the
last hundred years the greatest minds on earth came to America,
not for wealth and fame, but for the many freedoms we offered.
Now what we attract are those who desire to do no more than
menial labor and do not want to become part of this nation, all
while they take advantage of what we have developed for ourselves
and the descendants of those who came before us, and send half of
what they earn to other lands while our own citizens do without.
All while our freedoms, the very freedoms that previously
attracted others, are dwindling and disappearing.
WAKE UP, AMERICA!!
WE'RE BEING SOLD DOWN THE RIVER!!
And the only way back is to paddle together,
while we still have a river, and a nation!
